Logo Draft

Logo Draft

This is my logo draft. I’m not satisfied with my bicycle cogs. I used the polygon tool, rectangle too, and layers to get to this point. My road took me awhile to add and I think my final will have a different outline layer completely. I’m going to attempt to draw my own cog and add 15-20 sides to it. I’m trying to represent bicycling. I don’t think this is where I want it just yet. I look forward to feedback from my group to help me get there. I stand to win a free jersey if my design is accepted. The pressure is on!

  1. Hi Kathleen,

I like your logo project so far! I like that it looks like a road off in the distance. That’s very relevant to your topic with cycling, so I love the idea of communicating that through a logo. The colors look like they represent the road and the sky and/or outdoors, so that perfectly aligns with your topic. The shapes on the outer circle also give it the look of a sun, which fits really well! A few recommendations would be to try and make the shapes of around the circle more uniform. You could either copy and paste the same shape around the perimeter or possibly create a shape to layer under the circle. I would also bring the lettering a little closer together in the middle or add something else to make it look more complete. Overall, it’s a great concept for your project!

  2. Hello Kathleen,
I like you logo, it goes very well if your topic! It looks like a trail from close to further away. The outer circle with all the triangles looks kind of like a compass or sun. I would correct the circle because it looks as if it is passing the shapes on the top making them appear shorter than the ones on the bottom. I would suggest grouping them with the circles before enlarging or shrinking the logo. If it is supposed to be a compass or sun I would use color to be closer to a sun or if it’s a compass use N for north, etc. I would also suggest changing the blue in the circle to green for grass. If you are able I would also suggest putting a bike in the logo, so it is easier to look at the logo and know what your blog is about. I look forward to seeing the finished product!

  3. Hi Kathleen!

I really enjoyed looking over your logo! Love how the entire shape seems to cover your topic of cycling while also being able to envision riding outside! I love the way it works together, you kind of get that feel of nature and being outside riding, it honestly makes me want to go get on my bike. I did the Seattle to Portland ride a couple years ago so this topic is very intriguing to me! Love the logo design you have in mind. A detail I might suggest would be to make the letters a little more defined. I am not sure if you could outline it or add some drop shadow behind it to make it stand out a bit more, but I think that would be a good addition to your design while not taking away from the overall picture. Another thing I noticed was there was a small black line up above the letter “P” in the design and I wasn’t sure what that was there for. It didn’t seem very uniform and I wasn’t sure if it was just a typo but it stood out to me in the design. Again, I really love the design path you are on and how you drew your inspiration! Good luck with your future rides and classes!

  4. Hi Kathleen,
I think it’s awesome that you love biking! I have a few avid-biker friends that have done the STP (Seattle to Portland) bike ride, and it’s never not impressive. So far, one strong point is that your logo is symmetrical. I don’t see text included with your post, but I’m assuming the circle is the world and the spikes represent trees and I love that idea! As for areas of improvement, there is a lot of space in the center of your logo. To fill it, I would suggest either incorporating an icon that represents a bicycle or moving your text closer to the center. Another suggestion would be to add more dimension to your logo. You could fill the “grass” in a way similar to the way we filled the varsity text in our Illustrator tutorials. I am looking forward to seeing your finished product!
